Get Shredded: 6-Week HIIT Starter’s Guide

Looking to shred up while preserving muscle? Then you need to try sprinting. Use this easy-to-follow progression to start losing fat faster.

Sprints are hard. But they’re only hard for a little while, unlike the 30-45-minute steady state runs that are still the hallmark of so many routines. But those who are willing to push their stride to the max for a few brutal minutes are often rewarded with more burned bodyfat, a higher resting metabolism and more muscle preserved. The science is legion (and growing) but here’s a condensed helping of some of the awesomeness that interval-style sprinting has to offer.

>> Increases Power: Research suggests that high-intensity interval sprints can help to increase your body’s mitochondria count. More mitochondria, referred to lovingly as the “powerhouse” of your body’s cells, means more fuel burned and more energy produced by working muscles. This has enormous carryover to pretty much anything involving movement while also making you leaner and more powerful.

>> Increases Fat-Burning: Sprint workouts are, by nature, shorter so they may not burn as many calories as a typical steady-state workout. But a single session of high-intensity training can boost post-workout fat oxidation by 75 percent. Think that can help you on your way to Leanville?

15 Reasons to Use Apple Cider Vinegar Every Day

Apple Cider Vinegar is used pretty much anything—your skin, your hair, your house, and even your pets can benefit from its qualities. Raw, organic, unfiltered and unpasteurized, apple cider vinegar is so much more than a salad dressing!

1. Apple cider vinegar can detoxify your home.

It’s made from apple juice and is fermented to hard apple cider. It’s then fermented a second time to become apple cider vinegar. By using ACV in lieu of other products, we instantly decrease the consumption of unnatural chemicals in our homes and daily lives.

2. It can make your hair shine.

Apple cider vinegar can be used as a rinse for your hair after shampooing, and will boost your hair’s body and shine. I recommend recycling an old shampoo bottle, then filling it with 1/2 a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a cup of cold water. Pour the solution through your hair after shampooing several times a week for dramatic results.

3. Natural apple cider vinegar regulates the pH of your skin.

Dilute ACV with two parts water, and spread the concoction over your face with a cotton ball to replace your current toner. You can do this at night after washing, and in the morning before you apply your moisturizer. A dab of apple cider vinegar can also be left on the skin overnight to fade age spots or acne scars.

Only 23% of two-wheeler drivers understand the importance of helmets

A recent sample survey by World Health Organization (WHO)  has sent worrying signals for road safety experts across the globe. According to the initial findings of the survey, only 18.5% two-wheeler users wear helmet in the city.

“The surveys done in two phases in a few months’ gap have shown little improvement in the situation. Our surveys have also shown how there is less awareness among drivers so far as the importance of wearing helmet is concerned,” said Dr Adnan Hyder, director of department of international health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health while addressing road safety experts at Safety World Conference in Wellington (New Zealand).

The details of the survey findings, which would be published by the WHO, in December shows that only 23% of two-wheeler drivers were aware about the need to wear helmets while only 1% of the passengers felt its need. “At night the helmet usage drops significantly because of less police presence,” Hyder said.

In order to maintain your energy levels throughout the day and give your all to each training session, you need to be very careful with the type of fuel you give your body.

Though high G.I. (Glycaemic Index) foods are great for giving you a post workout boost, you also need a deep foundation of slow release energy to get you through multiple training sessions each day.
